Unst, Fetlar & Yell

Unst is home to one of the most outstanding natural nature reserves in Europe - Hermaness - where killer whales and dolphins swim lazily past joined by playful otters, and is home to a host of bird colonies which can count amongst their inhabitants Albert, the lonely Albatross, who has returned to take his forlorn place amongst the guillemots and puffins almost every year since 1972.

A sense of history permeates Fetlar, known as the 'garden of Shetland'.  The 19th century Clearances removed most of the island population - but remaining islanders can trace their heritage for 500 years. This is an island of rolling green hills, carpeted with wild flowers, some rare, during the warmer spring and summer months.  Immerse yourself in the Norse culture and use your imagination to transport yourself back to the time of the Vikings.  Feel as free as the wild birds that use the strong winds to guide themselves to the safety of the island.

Truly wild and solitary, Yell is an island for getting away from it all - for escaping into the eerie surroundings and losing yourself in its atmosphere.
