While flitting sea-fowl round me cry, Across the rolling, dashing roar, I'll westward turn my wistful eye:

Isle of Arran

The Isle of Arran is one of Scotland's most southerly islands nestled between the mainland of Ayrshire and the Kintyre Peninsula.  The history of Arran dates back so far it has been tangled up in Pictish and Celtic myth and legend for centuries.  From the strange standing stones on Machrie Moor to the chequered history of Brodick Castle to the very cave where Robert the Bruce was supposed to have encountered a tenacious spider - Arran throws up many surprises in this small and mountainous island.  Arran can let you escape while engaging in the finer aspects of life such as soap making, whisky tasting and even paragliding for the adventurous of spirit.

Perhaps the real delight of Arran is the peace and serenity you will instantly encounter on arrival.  Breathtaking hill walks with views overlooking the stunning west coast, beaches which remain deserted throughout the day and night and a fine history that has a story to tell round every twist in the road.

Arran is an island of contradictions but she will show you a place to discover more, more knowledge of herself but also a deeper knowledge of what you seek within yourself.
